Over the 2023 calendar year Gotham Roller Derby enjoyed a full return to in-person programming. Boot Camps, Basic Training, Junior Derby, and regular team in-person training programs resumed in March 2023. Three weeks of Juniors Summer Camp offered day camp programming to skaters ages 7 to 17. Combined, basic training and junior programming consisted of nearly 200 skaters. Gothams home team game season hosted 5 ticketed bouts at Lakeside in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Gothams Travel Team participated in 5 tournaments in several states throughout the season.Additional league events included a start of season party in May and an end of season party hosted in December. Gotham participated in events to table and raise league awareness in May at a Daves Lesbian Bar event and in September at the dapperQ Fashion Show. Gotham team members participated in a Paint and Skate event where a roller derby mural was painted. A regular schedule of league meetings was sustained virtually, Gotham's DEI committee remained active, and the league continued to work with consultant Denham Wolf to review and assess potential real estate rental locations for Gothams practice space needs. At the end of 2023, it was decided that it was no longer feasible to maintain a search for a permanent space. Online programming offered through the Twitch platform featured public streams of recorded game footage, live streams of 2023 season games, and other creative content.
