2023 was a vibrant year with more movies and live events than ever on our schedule. Our Theatre Manager was so busy scheduling that we hired a part-time assistant manager to assist with theatre operations.In March, the Sonoma International Film Festival brought in many thought-provoking independent films and documentaries along with their film makers for discussions.The addition of the Candlelight Concert series, which brings in professional musicians interpreting a wide variety of musical genres, has proved very popular. The Theatre is also host to live bands, singers comedians, and a speaker series.Our offerings for children continue to expand. The Backyard Kids children's theatre productions are held year round and are structured to give every child a chance in the spotlight.Performing Arts Camp, now in its 25th year, was held again for 2 weeks in July. Classes were given in acting, improv, Shakespeare, tap dancing & boys tap, jazz, movement, hip-hop, magic (advanced to beginner), juggling, bolas, karaoke, puppetry, arts & crafts, costume creation, story-telling, stilt-walking, journalism, video, photography and tumbling. Campers shared what they learned in a stage show presented to family and friends on a Saturday morning following the last day of camp.In September and October, Kindergarten to High School age children came to the Theatre after school to rehearse for the Witchie Poo Halloween show now in its 40th year. The annual Halloween-themed revue features music, magic, comedy, and dance in four weekend performances.We continue to offer free Saturday Morning Movies for Kids featuring classic children's' movies on the big screen.In December, the Theatre hosted the ballet production of the young dancers from Sonoma Conservatory of Dance.As the only remaining movie theatre in the town of Sonoma, we are working hard on our mission to offer content that inspires and entertains the entire community.
