The backpack program supported 50 teams with more than 3.2 million doses of medicine. The teams provided medical care for more than 120,000 isolated and internally displaced persons in Burma's conflict zones. They treated more than 41,000 patients. The program trained 40 new medics. BHM support included support for Medical Care Program, Mother-Child Program and Community Health Education and Prevention Program. BHM also support 142 backpack medics' children to attend primary and secondary schools in Mae Sot Thailand.
