PARK PRESERVATION AND PROTECTION: A PROGRAM TO PROVIDE THE RESOURCES TO SUPPORT THE PROTECTION OF THE INTEGRITY AND NATURAL RESOURCES OF VIRUNGA NATIONAL PARK. THIS PROGRAM INCLUDES PROJECTS DESIGNED TO STRENGTHEN COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION IN SUPPORT OF THE PARK, REDUCE WILDLIFE AND HUMAN CONFLICTS, STOP POACHING ACTIVITY AND SUPPORT CONSERVATION INITIATIVES. THIS INCLUDES ENSURING THE EFFECTIVE PROTECTION OF THE PARK'S INHABITANTS AND PEOPLE TRAVELING ACROSS THE PARK'S ROADS. EXAMPLES OF THESE PROJECTS INCLUDE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, AIRWING SUPPORT, BLOODHOUND UNIT AND ELEPHANT PROTECTION PATROLS, GIS MAPPING PROJECTS, ELECTRIC FENCE DEPLOYMENT AND GENERAL SUPPORT FOR THE PARK ADMINISTRATION.
