Nature Preserves: GMP purchased and began management of Deer Run Nature Preserve, Phase I, 287 acres, in December 2019. In 2020 and 2021, Green Mountain Conservancy raised funds to purchase additional land for Deer Run Nature Preserve. 626 acres were purchased in June 2021, and 10 acres were donated to GMC. Another 30 acres were purchased in November 2023. Deer Run Nature Preserve currently includes 954 acres in Brookline, Dummerston and Newfane Vermont. GMC pays property taxes and maintenance of the Preserve. In October, 2023, 115 acres of land in East Dummerston was donated to GMC to form the Canoe Brook Nature Preserve. Current efforts include work to purchase 197 acres in Marlboro, VT to form the Old Oaks Headwaters Preserve.
