CONSERVATION PROGRAM: WITH CONSTANT COMMUNITY-BASED PATROLS, THE MAMONI GUARDIANS PROGRAM HAS PROTECTED MVP'S MORE THAN 1,626 DOCUMENTED WILDLIFE SPECIES, SUPPORTING LOCAL EMPLOYMENT WHILE PROMOTING ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EFFORTS. MVP HAS SAFEGUARDED 30% OF LAND IN THE VALLEY, ENGAGED ANOTHER 10% OF LANDOWNERS IN CONSERVATION EFFORTS, AND IS PROGRESSING TOWARDS CONSERVING THE REMAINING 60%. SINCE ITS ARRIVAL, FOREST COVER HAS GROWN BY 6.4%, WHILE SURROUNDING AREAS HAVE SEEN A 9.8% DECREASE. IN 2014, THE MAMONI VALLEY PRESERVE WAS FORMED AND BEGAN RECEIVING DONATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF PURCHASING CRITICAL PANAMANIAN RAINFOREST TO CONSERVE IN PERPETUITY. IN 2018, IT INITIATED A GUARDIAN PROGRAM TO PATROL ITS PROPERTIES. IN 2022, IT EXPANDED ITS BOARD, RECEIVED A DONATION OF CRITICAL RAINFOREST PROPERTY WITHIN THE VALLEY, AND DRAMATICALLY EXPANDED ITS ACTIVITIES. UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A NEWLY CONTRACTED CEO, IT IS EXPANDING ITS CREW OF GUARIANS TO PATROL ITS EXTENSIVE LANDHOLDINGS, PERFECTING THE TITLING OF DOZENS OF PARCELS TO ENSURE THEIR PROTECTION, AND SUPPORTING THE VILLAGERS IN THE FOUR VILLAGES THAT EXIST WITHIN THE VALLEY.
