Cotton Program: In FY 2023, RSN's cotton program activities continued to focus on raising awareness of and laying the foundation to manage a due diligence approach to identify, prevent, and mitigate forced labor involved in cotton production globally. The key accomplishments with RSN's due diligence initiative, YESS: Yarn Ethically & Sustainably Sourced, were to: 1) transition YESS to a multi-stakeholder membership model, 2) establish the YESS policies and procedures to working with Sumerra, an auditor management company, and 3) conduct additional third-party YESS assessments with spinning and fabric mills in India. RSN shadowed the auditors and provided guidance, while also training staff from Sumerra and internal RSN staff. RSN also participated in a due diligence and traceability pilot led by NGO, Verit, called the Supply Chain Tracing and Engagement Methodologies Project (STREAMS).
