The Girls Athletic Leadership School of Denver

GALS Denver is Colorado's only public girls school serving middle and high school students. Our broad based curriculum provides an innovative and necessary educational option which engages health and wellness as a key contributing factor in optimizing academic achievement and self-development. There is particular emphasis on the development of leadership skills (both inside and outside the classroom) to equip our students with the confidence and capability to make a positive difference in our world. Founded in 2010, GALS Middle School serves 6-8th grade students. Enrollment FYE 6/30/24 totaled 203 students. The GALS Denver High School, founded in 2014, serves 9-12th grade students. Enrollment FYE 6/30/24 totaled 93 students. The expansive educational goals of GALS Denver require that we focus our financial priorities around our classroom teachers and student support specialists. Salaries and benefits comprise 73% of the annual budget, which supports a very favorable teacher to pupil ratio of 12:1. Six of our seven grade levels reached or far exceeded their reading and math targets, with details below: 6th graders were 41% over their reading growth goals and, 60% over their math growth goals 7th graders were 36% over math goals 8th graders were 90% over their math goals 9th graders were 89% over their reading goals 10th graders were 13% over their reading goals 10th and 11th graders both exceeded their math goals by 5% 96% of students say they work hard in school 93% say they will go to college 90% believe they are smart Over 80% say they have all the supports they need from teachers Over 70% say they have the mental health support they need to focus on learning
