Our mission is to provide dignified housing and supportive services to formerly incarcerated individuals. Vita Nova (formerly HFI) owns a triplex in Observation Hill where we provide transitional housing to men with felony backgrounds. Individuals with felony backgrounds struggle to find stable housing, which leads to difficult returning to community, becoming employed, and many other challenges. We also provide Health Realization programming, which supports individuals to reunify with their families, helps them recover from substance use disorders, and provides them with a weekly support group that helps them overcome barriers in their lives.

Transitional housing is provided to men with felony backgrounds who are recently released from incarceration. Residents are provided with a structured environment with rules that generally align with the conditions of their probation or parole, including no drug or alcohol use, curfew, and employment requirements. Residents are provided with case management, support to attain employment, and other services through other nonprofits with which Vita Nova partners. The primary achievement in this fiscal year was to complete rehab on two units of the triplex which Vita Nova purchased. Two residents were served in the 2023-24 fiscal year, both of them moving into their new apartments in spring 2024 as rehab was completed.
