Academic Year Jazz Programs: We offered introductory instrument instruction and intermediate, and advanced jazz ensemble programs to 569 students across all programs. Our mission is to make music education more accessible. We do this in part by removing financial barriers: 80% of students received some type of tuition assistance ranging from 25% to full scholarships as well as use of a free loaner instrument and instrument supplies. Our curriculum draws from the values and ideals of jazz, focusing on learning by ear, improvisation and playing with others. Through these programs, students develop leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, as well as learning to navigate differences of opinions and compromising on musical choices.

Summer Camp: Our summer camp programs mirrored our academic year programs offering a week-long 4-hour a day version of our school year offerings. The two-week jazz ensemble camp for middle school students included a mentoring component for high school students. These camps help meet the need for activities and enrichment for school-aged students on summer break. Like our school year programs, they help remove financial barriers through pay-what-you-can tuition and free loaner instruments and supplies. Our summer camps served 180 students.

Music in Schools Programming: We offered both jazz music appreciation assembles, multi-week jazz listening programs, and introductory ukelele programs in area schools during the school day. These programs were implemented in partnership with local and public schools and community-based organizations, often at a reduced cost, to supplement elementary music programs and provide an additional point for students unable to participate in traditional school music programs. These programs collaborated with 17 schools and reached approximately 2550 students.
