The Mile High Labrador Retriever Mission is a dog rescue. We are 100% run by unpaid volunteers. We strive to save labrador retrievers and labrador retriever mixes from shelters beyond Colorado's borders. We aim to take possession of these dogs before they are euthanized in overcrowded shelters. We place all dogs in private volunteer foster homes, get them up-to-date with current shots, microchipping, and spay/neuter surgeries, and then list them available for adoption. Potential adopters complete an application process and are screened for potential matches with the dogs we have. All dogs are spayed/neutered before adoption and are up-to-date on vaccinations. We are also in good standing and licensed with Colorado PACFA Licensing. Last year, we saved and adopted out over 530 dogs to new families. In our work, we also aim to educate the public about spay/neutering dogs to prevent unwanted litters and help control/prevent pet overpopulation.

In 2025 MHLRM was able to rescue/intake and then place/adopt over 530 dogs to adoptive homes and save them from euthanasia in shelters that are overpopulated with animals and forced to euthanize due to space. All of these animals were brought up to date with vaccinations, provided with spay/neuter surgeries for sterilization, and treated for medical needs such as parvovirus, distemper virus, leg amputations when needed, parasites, upper respiratory infections, necessary behavioral training, eye treatments, infections to the skin, eyes, etc, and more.
