Umpqua Valley Farm to School (UVF2S) provided direct school garden education programs which include our "Three Pillars of Wellness: Mindfulness, Physical Activity, and Nutrition" to 2,768 youth in Douglas County in 2024. 466 community members participated in our community classes which include Family Cooking Nights featuring traditional foods from global cultures. Over $40,000 went back into local farms by purchasing produce for rural, underserved communities. UVF2S assisted schools in Douglas, Coos, and Curry counties in procuring over $100,000 in locally grown, raised, and caught products for school meals. 147 volunteers helped us build and maintain six school gardens and carry out community events. UVF2S hosted four workshops for producers to assist with grant writing and expanding their businesses, and Rainbow Kitchen, a shared, commercial kitchen, helped incubate six, small, food-based businesses which allowed them to sell at events and retail establishments. UVF2S Co-chaired 12 Food Systems Committee meetings with local food systems stakeholders and partnered with other organizations to host a Southern Oregon Food Systems Convening.
