The mission of Dependable Hands is to meet the needs of the homeless, needy, and less fortunate individuals in our community. We feed the homeless each week and provide a food pantry and clothes closet that is open to all. We provide clothing, blankets, hygiene products, and other basic necessities. As we grow, we plan to provide shelter, training, and education to aide the homeless and needy in getting reestablished in the community.

During 2025, our efforts focused on continuing to feed the homeless and operate the food pantry and clothes closet. Food and other items were purchased from the North Alabama Food Bank and other stores in the community. Some of the food and other items were distributed to the needy in the community via the food pantry and clothes closet. Some of the food was distributed to the homeless and needy when we went out to feed the homeless and serve in the homeless camps. Volunteers staff the food pantry and clothes closet. Volunteers prepared and distributed the food given to the homeless. Nothing was sold throughout this process, so no revenue was gained. Expenses were incurred for the maintenance and upkeep of our local food bank and clothes closet. These expenses were met by the contribution from individuals in the community and the contribution from Dependable Hands' officers. The volunteers also brought and donated prepared food items when we served hot meals to the homeless. This helped to keep the food expenses low. However, as we continue to grow, we anticipate that the food expense will grow as well.
