A BROAD BASE OF KNOWLEDGE DERIVED FROM GENERAL EDUCATION STUDIES IS INTEGRATED INTO EACH PROGRAM AS A FOUNDATION FOR PERSONAL GROWTH, PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION, AND PRACTICE. A STIMULATING ACADEMIC ENVIRONMENT FOCUSES ON DISCOVERY, SCHOLARSHIP AND PRACTICE TO ADDRESS SOCIETAL NEEDS FOR NURSING AND OTHER HEALTHCARE SERVICES.

SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES BEGAN IN 1887 WHEN SAINT LUKE'S HOSPITAL OPENED A SCHOOL FOR NURSES. THE SCHOOL WAS ESTABLISHED AS A DEPARTMENT WITHIN THE HOSPITAL IN 1903, AND IT EARNED ACCREDITATION AS A BACCALAUREATE DEGREE-GRANTING INSTITUTION IN 1995.IN 2010, SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE BECAME A SEPARATE NOT-FOR-PROFIT CORPORATION WITH SAINT LUKE'S HOSPITAL OF KANSAS CITY BEING THE SOLE MEMBER. STUDENTS AT SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE HAVE A VARIETY OF CLINICAL OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN SAINT LUKE'S HEALTH SYSTEM. Through May 2020, SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE HAD BSN AND RN-BSN TRACKS IN ITS UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM AND OFFERED A GRADUATE DEGREE AND CERTIFICATE IN ADULT-GERONTOLOGY ACUTE NURSE PRACTITIONER (AG-ACNP). THE COLLEGE WAS ACCREDITED BY THE HIGHER LEARNING COMMISSION (HLC) AND THE COMMISSION ON COLLEGIATE NURSING EDUCATION (CCNE) AND WAS FULLY APPROVED BY THE MISSOURI STATE BOARD OF NURSING. IN MAY 2020, SAINT LUKE'S COLLEGE SOLD ITS ASSETS AND TRANSFERRED OPERATIONS TO ROCKHURST UNIVERSITY, A 501C3 JESUIT COLLEGE. THE ENTITY ITSELF WAS DISSOLVED IN JANUARY 2021.
