Featuring 32 performing ensembles, 8 guest speakers, and over 120 professional and youth artists, the festival continued to celebrate Akrons rich jazz and blues legacy while fostering intergenerational learning and community connection. The Amistad Carribbean Arts Program continued to connect students with their heritage through the music,dance, and cultural study of the African Diaspora. Amistad began plans for the expansion a two-week summer camp into a year-round educational program serving Cleveland students weekly in collaboration with local schools and professional artists. Students will strengthen artistic skills, cultural awareness, and self-esteem through a curriculu that celebrates the music and traditions of the African Diaspora.
