LebNet's primary purpose is to educate Lebanese and Lebanese-American professionals, students and start-up companies in the high-tech field through networking, meetings, round-tables, training sessions, mentoring activities and other educational events. In 2020 and due to the COVID pandemic, we couldn't conduct in-person events but we focused on virtual webinars and conducted 15 well attended sessions on various tech topics. We added 43 new members, published 9 original content articles and signed a MOU with the Lebanese American University in Lebanon to secure LebNet member volunteers as part-time remote lecturers for some of their tech accredited classes. Due to the dire situation in Lebanon after the Port of Beirut explosion in August 2020, we partnered with other nonprofits to encourage US-based Lebanese to donate funds to major charities in Lebanon. We also focused on job creation in Lebanon by creating a value proposition to US-based companies to outsource tech work to Lebanese talent. Finally, we incubated project www.aleb.world to provide our members and their friends with opportunities to sponsor needy families in Lebanon with monthly payment of $200 over 6 months (renewable).
