Campaign Against Racism(CAR): The CAR is a network of 17 active chapters in 10 different countries. Each chapter declares a strategic goal aligned to addressing upstream issues that contribute to poor health outcomes directly affecting their communities and commits to be a part of the collective campaign with support from the CAR organizers. Chapters engage together and share experiences around social medicine praxis. To date,the campaign has at least 2000 people on its listserv and social media platforms. CAR chapters and members also collaborate across common themes through working groups focusing on key issues. Last year CAR partnered with at least three US based academic institutions which included hosting webinars for health professionals and support in person conferences for Health professionals. These activities benefitted hundreds of American and international health professionals. The CAR team also supported health professionals at international conferences outside the USA . The team also made a presentation at a United Nations forum in Geneva joining global partners in a continued efforts to improve health outcomes of most vulnerable groups globally. In addition to webinars and convenings the CAR team also supported one of its chapters in submitting a case for publication in the Lancet journal . In October 2024 about 40 international health professionals and community met in Knoxville Tennessee which was the first in person convening after lifting of travel restrictions due to the Covid -19. This was an opportunity for them to network and explore opportunities for international collaboration.

Social Medicine course: In 2024, EqualHealth conducted educational training courses in social medicine for thirty-six (36) students drawn from marginalized communities in Haiti and Uganda. This four-month transnational program utilizes a transformative education model aimed at equipping the upcoming generation of healthcare providers with the essential tools and knowledge required to address health inequities and power structures. Furthermore, it prepares participants to effectively lead interventions that are tailored to local contexts. The curriculum covers a range of topics, including social determinants of health, colonialism, and narrative medicine. The course was delivered in a hybrid format, comprising both in-person and online sessions. It was led and implemented by EqualHealth staff, who possess diverse backgrounds and extensive field experience, supplemented by the contributions of international experts, professors, and researchers. In our ongoing effort to evolve our teaching methods through capacity-building initiatives, we conducted three faculty development sessions for our teaching team on June 13 and 25. Bringing together faculty staff from our locations in Haiti, Minnesota, and Uganda, the sessions delved into key topics such as diversity, Narrative Medicine, Story and Writing as pedagogy, and Global Solidarity. These sessions provided an invaluable opportunity for self-reflection on power and privilege, sharing pedagogical strategies across sites, and identifying pathways for enhancing the quality and impact of our courses.
