Grassroots community engagement: Lee Interfaith For Empowerment (LIFE) held a community gathering in April, 2024 to discuss community concerns about when handcuffs are used by law enforcement on patients volunteering to be transported to mental health facilities. The Lee County Sheriff and Fort Myers Police Chief were invited and their representatives spoke with 300 LIFE members in attendance. An appreciation award was presented to the chair of the Lee County Commission for the Commissions partnership with LIFE on affordable housing and other community issues

Advocacy for Affordable Housing: In June, 2024, LIFE held a prayer vigil outside of a Fort Myers City Council meeting. 30 LIFE members attended the meeting after the prayer vigil to support the City Councils decision to use $1.15 million in the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to help fund 230 units of affordable housing for individuals making 80% or less of Area Median Income.

LIFE held a Clergy Caucus in October, 2024 with local clergy members for leadership training and a discussion of community issues. LIFE held a Team Leader Training in November, 2024. Leaders learned how to build organized networks in their communities and churches so that they can successfully convince policy and decision makers to address community problems.
