Missions on Wheels (MOW) provides dormitory, shower, and laundry trailers for first responders and volunteer workers responding to natural disasters. These are made available at little to no cost; as a result, more relief donations are available for the desperately needed relief work. The main components of its work are Disaster Response/Relief immediately following a natural disaster and ongoing Long-Term Disaster Recovery. When not supporting disaster recovery, Missions on Wheels is committed to local community outreach programs, including homeless ministry, youth camp programs, and urban outreach missions. Immediate Response The July 4 Texas floods took us to the Concho Valley to set up long-term recovery operations in San Angelo. 1 laundry trailer, 2 16-bed dorms, 1 7-stall shower trailer, and multiple generators are in service with CityServe at The Life Church. Private donations have offset our expenses so far, enabling over 250 volunteers to serve this multi-county area without taxpayer funds or invoicing our non-profit partners. The rental savings in 2025 exceeded $250,000! Long Term Recovery In June, we wrapped up over 2.5 years of operations with Inspiritus in Southwest Florida, where we provided housing and showers to volunteers providing direct reconstruction assistance after back-to-back events: Hurricane Ian, TS Idalia, and Hurricane Milton. Our economic impact in Florida exceeded $4.9 million. Shortly after October 2024, we entered into a partnership with Adventures in Missions and committed to a thirty-month initiative in Western North Carolina focused on rebuilding after Hurricane Helene. The base camp in Black Mountain can host 150 volunteers at a time, thanks to the two shower trailers and three bunk trailers you helped send. In 2025, they hosted approximately 2,500 volunteers. Our 2025 impact related to Helene totals $1.1 million in rental savings and over $2 million in volunteer hours. Incredibly, the damage from Hurricane Harvey in 2017 is still being addressed. In Jasper, TX, volunteers completed multiple projects and utilized our newest laundry trailer over the two and a half months they were there: 24 homes repaired, 18 roofs installed, 1 house built, and 4 homes demoed down to the studs and rebuilt. 88 days deployed and $35,200 in savings over renting a similar trailer. Local Community Support According to our friends at Compassion United, over 5,200 showers were provided in 2025 to people experiencing homelessness. A shower might seem like a small thing. Still, it can make a massive difference to both mental and physical health, open doors to employment opportunities, and provide a sense of worth and dignity to a person experiencing homelessness. We have been partnering with CU at Miracle City since 2023.
