FROM REMOTE COMMUNITIES IN THE COUNTRY, IBU BROUGHT INDIGENOUS WOMEN WITH WHOM WE COLLABORATE TO BOGOTA AND MEDELLIN, LEARNING ABOUT THEIR NEEDS AND ARTISANAL SKILLS, AND ABOUT A NEW WORKSPACE AND SCHOOL PROJECT WHICH IBU SUPPORTED IN ONE REGION. VISITING NINE ARTISAN GROUPS AND WORKSPACES, TRAVELERS LEARNED DIRECTLY FROM THE COLOMBIAN DESIGNERS AND ARTISANS ABOUT THEIR LIVES AND SKILLS, ENJOYED MEALS IN THE HOMES OF OUR ALLIES, AND TOOK IN MAJOR CULTURAL HIGHLIGHTS OF THAT DIVERSE COUNTRY.

CAPACITY BUILDING GRANT TO KANDAHAR TREASURE:IN 2022, IBU FOUNDATION APPLIED FOR AND WAS AWARDED A GRANT FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE STATE TO FURTHER UPLIFT THE ARTISANS OF KANDAHAR TREASURE. THE GRANT, "PRESERVING AFGHAN CULTURE, EMPOWERING WOMEN, AND REINFORCING SHARED VALUES" IS GIVING WOMEN ARTISANS OPPORTUNITY THROUGH BUSINESS AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING, OPERATIONAL SUPPORT AND ACCESS TO EXPANDED MARKETS.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY EVENT ON MARCH 8, 2023 THE IBU MOVEMENT WELCOMED 450 GUESTS TO CELEBRATE OUR 2023 SEVEN GLOBAL CHAMPIONS, HONORING ARTISAN LEADERS FROM NIGERIA, PAKISTAN, COLOMBIA, MOROCCO, AFGHANISTAN, AND HAITI. EACH LEADER HIGHLIGHTED THE ARTISANAL CULTURAL HERITAGE OF WOMEN IN THEIR REGION, JOINING FORCES TO CREATE AN EXTRAORDINARY RUNWAY SHOW OF THEIR HAND-CRAFTED GARMENTS. A PANEL DISCUSSION WITH THE ARTISAN LEADERS KICKED OFF THE EVENT EARLIER THAT DAY, DISCUSSING NEEDS AND PRIORITIES AND THEIR SHARED MISSION. THAT EVENING, PARTICIPANTS ENJOYED INTERNATIONAL FARE AND DRINKS, AND WERE INVITED TO PARTICIPATE IN A LIVE AUCTION OF GLOBAL TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES AND PADDLE RAISE TO SUPPORT THE IBU MOVEMENT.
