The US-China Energy Transition & Coal Regions Track II dialogue was a project started in 2021, & continued in 2023 via the research for a Just Transition Study.The goal of the dialogue is to develop new policy outcomes that can accelerate global climate action for these key global regions & benefit coal communities facing the energy transition in the US & China. The Dialogue feature stakeholders from the US & China leading coal producing regions, namely Wyoming, West Virginia & Pennsylvania in the US and in China, the provinces of Shanxi,Shaanxi, and Inner Mongolia. In 2023, the Just Transition Study focused on US coal-producing regions, specifically Wyoming & West Virginia, aiming to better understand through research, interviews, conferences, and surveys at the state and local level progress in implementing the just transition for communities and workers impacted by the decline of coal.
