THE TRIANGLE SPORTS COMMISSION WAS AWARDED THE 2029 WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES ON JANUARY 10, 2023 BY THE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY SPORTS FEDERATION (FISU) AT A CEREMONY IN LAKE PLACID, NEW YORK, PRIOR TO THE START OF THE 2023 WINTER WORLD UNIVERSITY GAMES IN LAKE PLACID. DURING 2023, TSC WAS PRIMARILY FOCUSED ON THE PLANNING AND ORGANIZING OF THE 2029 GAMES, INCLUDING THE EXECUTION OF THE FIRST TEST EVENT OF THE GAMES, THE 2023 USA TRACK & FIELD MASTERS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS HELD AT TRUIST STADIUM AND NC A&T STATE UNIVERSITY. ALSO DURING 2023, THE TSC HELPED HOST THE INAUGURAL TOURNAMENT FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE CRICKET PRO LEAGUE IN THE UNITED STATES IN COMPETITION HELD OVER FIVE DAYS IN JULY AT CHURCH STREET PARK IN MORRISVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA.
