THE OHIO HUMANITIES COUNCIL IS AN OHIO INDEPENDENT NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHOSE PRINCIPAL BUSINESS ACTIVITY IS TO PROMOTE THE HUMANITIES THROUGH GRANTS, PUBLIC PROGRAMS, AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS TO HELP INDIVIDUALS EXPLORE AND BE INSPIRED BY THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE.OHIO HUMANITIES IS THE STATE-BASED PARTNER OF THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES. WE ARE SUPPORTED BY ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES, AS WELL AS CONTRIBUTIONS FROM PRIVATE SOURCES. THE STATE HUMANITIES COUNCILS ARE A UNIQUE PROGRAM ESTABLISHED BY CONGRESSIONAL MANDATE; THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT AWARDS ANNUAL OPERATING GRANTS TO EACH OF THE 56 STATE AND TERRITORIAL COUNCILS.
