PATROLLING SIX NEIGHBORHOODS IN THE CITY OF COLUMBUS BY UNIFORMED, NON-POLICE PERSONNEL TO DETER AND DETECT CRIME, AS WELL AS ASSISTING LOCAL POLICE. PATROLLERS WORKED A TOTAL OF 12,516 HOURS IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS: UNIVERSITY DISTRICT, HILLTOP, FRANKLINTON, MERION VILLAGE, GERMAN VILLAGE, NORTHLAND/NORTH LINDEN, AND EAST MAIN ST. PATROLLERS REPORTED 28 SIGNIFICANT INCIDENTS, RESULTING IN ARREST, SUMMONS, TICKET ISSUED, WRITTEN REPORT OR SQUAD RUN, THEY ASSISTED JUST UNDER 1,800 RESIDENTS IN NEED OF DIRECTIONS, HELP WITH CAR TROUBLE, OR INFORMATION REQUESTS, JUST UNDER 50 REPORTS OF CODE VIOLATIONS, SUCH AS UNSECURED VACANT STRUCTURES OR A JUNK CAR PARKED IN A YARD, WERE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY OF COLUMBUS' CODE ENFORCEMENT DEPARTMENT. TWO PERSONS REQUESTED AND WERE GRANTED PATROL ESCORTS TO ENSURE THEIR SAFE ARRIVAL AT THEIR FINAL DESTINATION. FINALLY, JUST OVER 700 REPAIR REQUESTS WERE SUBMITTED TO THE CITY OF COLUMBUS RELATED TO PROBLEMS SUCH AS BURNED-OUT STREET LIGHTS, WATER LEAKS, AND MISSING STREET SIGNS.
