As result, participants improve their financial capacity, households work to prevent foreclosure, and/or improve their rental situation. HOTH promotes fair housing by providing information about fair housing, fair lending, and/or accessibility rights. Housing Development - Working primarily in the Hilltop neighborhood and Prairie Township, HOTH provides low- and moderate-income households the opportunity to purchase or to rent a home that is safe, decent, and affordable. HOTH uses two strategies to provide affordable homeownership: completing comprehensive rehabs of existing houses and building new infill houses on vacant lots. Houses generally include features that improve energy efficiency, sustainability, and accessibility. Construction costs are subsidized with grant funds to make the houses affordable to low- and moderate-income households.
