Leadership Newark (LN) is an organization which offers the following programs and services: Skill and Team Building Programs; Public Policy Enrichment Seminars; Public Policy Dinner Meetings; Community Leadership Initiative Projects; Public Policy Summits; Non-Profit Board Training & Development and Leadership Newark Graduate Organization Programs. These initiatives and programs are for adults who live, work or volunteer in the civic life of the City of Newark. All are leadership related programs born out of a desire to strengthen the City of Newark's civic infrastructure through preparing the next generation of leaders to serve in numerous professional, political and volunteer capacities in the largest city in the State of New Jersey. Founded in September 1998, the founders felt it was necessary to arm and prepare a strong cadre of citizens of diverse backgrounds with in-depth knowledge on a wide range of public policy issues who will be prepared to take on a variety of leadership roles in and around the City of Newark as the City undergoes an evolving renaissance. To date, the LN network is over 500 strong and the impact of their efforts is palpable across all sectors. LN prepares and grooms adult to be civic leaders through public policy debate and discussions augmented by skill building and team building sessions as well. The seminars are delivered in an adult friendly learning environment, which allows a setting, which fosters tremendous interaction and exchange among the Fellows and noted experts. We employ various formats such as panels & roundtable discussions, keynote addresses, site visits, case studies, small group dialogue and experiential training. In all instances we bring policy makers, elected officials, academicians and nationally recognized leaders in a small setting to share their knowledge, talents and expertise with the participants, who are eager community activists. Ultimately creating a powerful forum for the exchange of ideas and new approaches to some of the challenges facing the Newark community.
