Emergency Shelter programThe shelter program provides shelter services for 30/60/90 days. This includes: meals, clothing, hygiene products, referrals, and essential services. These services are provided to: families, widows, children, seniors, and those who served in the armed forces.We assist in restarting lives by helping our residents find stable employment and permanent housing. We provide referrals to agencies for a myriad of services such as, provide intensive case management with each resident including life skills training, job readiness, resume building, and financial budgeting. For the fiscal year of 2024/2025 alone, we've served over 60,000 meals. Of those meals 8,600 meals were provided for the chronically homeless in our area. We've provided food and shelter for 63 families: including 149 children, 37 single females, 4 veterans, and 34 seniors with an 83% success rate.Navigation programThe Outreach/Navigation team services the chronically homeless living on the streets who have lived this way for over a year or longer. While our team works to build trust, we collaborate with organizations such as Healthcare In Action and Riverside University Health System to provide medical care for those facing health issues. The Navigation team supplies hygiene kits, water, food, showers and evening meals at the shelter. We assist them with attaining necessary documentation such as California ID, and birth certificates which were needed to obtain services and housing. We also help assist with SSI, SDI, and Veteran benefits. During the 2024/2025 fiscal year, 21 clients were successfully housed through either our Rapid Re-housing program or through collaborations with community partners and agencies. The Navigation team works diligently with each client, contacting them for weekly follow-ups. Rapid Re-Housing ProgramDuring the fiscal year of 2024/2025, Valley Restart Shelter's Rapid Rehousing Program (RRH) has made remarkable strides, impacting the lives of 89 individuals within our community. This group included 42 adults and 47 children. Among our clients, 8 individuals bravely faced mental health challenges, and 4 experienced domestic violence, in addition Valley Restart served 1 disabled veteran and 10 senior citizens. Additionally, 11 clients increased their income while participating in the program.Through our RRH Program, we successfully distributed 76 food boxes to families in need. Our resolute staff went beyond by providing life skills packets carefully crafted and reviewed to equip clients with essential knowledge for daily living. To further enhance these skills, we welcomed Sophia Brooks, a dynamic leader who facilitated engaging life skills courses. Her wisdom and insights, drawn from her experience as a CEO, empowered clients with practical tools to navigate life's challenges.As part of our holistic approach to support, the Rapid Rehousing Program acquired a truck, which proved to be an invaluable resource for seven clients during their moving endeavors. This service alleviated some of the financial strain of relocating to new homes, allowing clients to focus on building their futures. Moreover, we took pride in assisting clients with the rehousing process, helping them move their belongings and marking significantmilestones on their journeys toward stability and self-sufficiency. Each success story reflects our commitment to fostering hope and opportunity within our community.Intern ProgramValley Restart is an intern practicum placement site for both Bachelor and Master' level social work and human services degrees from various universities and colleges including California Baptist College, Rutgers University, University of Phoenix, Arizona State University, University of California, Riverside, University of Massachusetts, Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State San Bernardino, and Cal State San Marcos to name a few.
