Pearls & Prosecco Gala ? October 10, 2025 | The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota The Sisterhood Project USA hosted its inaugural Pearls & Prosecco Gala at The Ritz-Carlton Sarasota, bringing together an incredible community of supporters for an unforgettable evening of purpose and celebration. Guests enjoyed an elegant dinner, live entertainment, and moving stories that highlighted our mission to support children affected by domestic violence through scholarships in music, art, and sports. Thanks to the generosity of our attendees, sponsors, and volunteers, the event raised critical funds to help us continue providing healing opportunities for young survivors across our community. The goal was to raise funds that exceeded expenses and this was met by raising $28,358 more than expenses.

The Sisterhood Project USA?s Program, the 2026 Prom Pop-Up Shop, It is a boutique-style experience where teens who have experienced difficult family circumstances can shop for their perfect prom look, completely free of charge. All work is being performed by volunteers, so the project is free of expenses, and the service is free to the students. Instead of worrying about the cost of dresses, suits, shoes, or accessories, students are invited to browse, try on, and choose an outfit that makes them feel confident, celebrated, and proud. Each teen is styled with care, encouragement, and dignity, turning what can be a stressful moment into one filled with joy, excitement, and possibility.Through the Prom Pop-Up Shop, we don?t just give outfits, we give confidence, memories, and the reminder that every young person deserves to shine.

We will continue to use the funds from the Oct 10, 2025, in 2026 in the following ways: For Art & Play Trauma-informed art and play therapy has shown promise in aiding children and mothers in domestic violence shelters, helping to mitigate trauma-related symptoms. Trauma-Focused Art Therapy (TFAT) has also been effective in reducing PTSD symptoms and supporting emotional processing when traditional therapy may not reach. Expressive Arts Expressive arts therapies (incorporating visual art, music, movement, drama, etc.) provide safe, nonverbal ways for children to process trauma, build self-awareness, manage emotional distress, and enhance self-esteem and cognitive function. Music Music therapy helps children find voice through activities like songwriting, improvisation, and listening?especially those who?ve been silenced by trauma. It also creates an important sense of safety and internal resource-building. Interventions combining movement and music build resilience, fostering key qualities like self-awareness, confidence, autonomy, and belonging. Research from Arts Schools Studies from arts-enriched preschool programs (e.g. Head Start) reveal that participation in the arts: Boosts receptive vocabulary (a key school success predictor) Increases positive emotions by 60% over traditional settings Lowers stress levels (measured via cortisol) Enhances school readiness in economically disadvantaged children The Role of Sports in Healing and Resilience:A pilot sports-based intervention showed reductions in both internalizing and externalizing behaviors?like fewer restraints and time-outs?among traumatized youth participants. A recent Swedish study highlighted that an extra hour of physical activity at age 11 lowered psychiatric diagnosis risk by 12% by age 18. Organized sports, in particular, cut depression risk by 35% and anxiety by 21% in boys?and demonstrated meaningful benefits for girls too.
