Southeast Community Services, SECS, was founded in 1972 as a consortium of neighborhood groups to deliver social services in the southeast side of Indianapolis. Our mission is to serve, strengthen, and support our southeast neighbors. Our vision is to address the comprehensive needs of all struggling individuals and families (neighbors) within southeast Indianapolis through a collaborative, wrap-around approach. Our entire organization operates as a Center for Working Families (CWF), providing financial literacy and coaching, employment and career coaching, adult basic education, as well as income and barrier busting support. We have been facilitating a Family Success Coaching model for the past several years, integrating trauma-informed care practices through a whole-family, multi-generational approach with customized financial and employment plans based on individual and family needs. While helping to strengthen family units, we also help parents and caregivers identify and pursue career goals, develop employment skills, and learn to reduce debt, build credit, save for their future, and navigate complex public benefit programs. We also work with youth in the family to increase success in school, progress to the next grade, participate in afterschool activities, and stay in the same school for the entire year.
