During the 2024-2025 season, the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra presented 5 main-stage performances. Our season opener, Vivaldi! led by Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken, featured lesser known works by the famous composer. We gave two performances, one at the University of Indianapolis and one at Envive Healthcare of Beech Grove (a senior independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing facility). Bach Harvest was a joyful collaboration with St. Pauls Episcopal Church featuring soprano Kristine Caswelch and Baritone Charles Wesley Evans. La France Galante, led by concertmaster Adriane Post, featured music in the French taste and Galanterie. Our season concluded with an exuberant collaboration with Second Presbyterian Church for J.S. Bachs St. John Passion. Additionally, Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken, and founding member and harpsichordist Thomas Gerber, performed at the unveiling and dedication ceremony of the 2024 Christmas Stamp held at Newfields. In addition to our main-stage performances, we had several education programs throughout the year. Artistic Director Barthold Kuijken gave a lecture titled Why didnt J.S. Bach write dynamics & articulations into his compositions? to students and faculty at Butler University, as well as a lecture to students and faculty at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music titled Inequality: what, where, when, why, who?" IBO violinist Sarah Cranor teamed up with award winning Peruvian childrens author Mariana Llanos to present a bilingual telling of Run, Little Chaski! We invited the young and young-at-heart to take an exciting musical storytelling journey to 18th century Latin America with us. Listeners heard the tale of Little Chaski running the Inca Trail, accompanied by descriptive language, bold illustrations, and 18th century musical selections, all while experiencing first hand a diverse and vibrant musical cultural tradition through a lively 45-minute program. Free signed copies of the book (both in Spanish & English) were handed out to each family that wished to take one home. We gave FREE performances at Carmel Clay Public Library, Johnson County Public Library - White River Branch, Indianapolis Public Library - Fort Ben Branch, and Monroe County Public Library.
