A final review of data collected from June 2022 to December 2023 showed that 402 people participated in the nutrition education sessions across the four food pantries. Nutrition literacy was assessed in four areas: experts advice, food groups, food choices, and risk of diet-related chronic diseases. 98% of the participants understood the correct nutrition advice after the workshops compared to 60% prior to the health education sessions. 98% correctly identified the good protein sources and 94% the healthy fats after the workshops compared to 68% and 25% respectively, prior to the education sessions. 98% were able to make the healthiest food choice of the meals offered compared to 68% prior to the workshops. 97% correctly understood nutrition-related health conditions after the nutrition classes compared to 41% prior to the nutrition interventions. Sustainable food donor network was established to continue to support the work of the food pantries.
