In 2023, Project Ethiopia completed two rural primary school buildings consisting of four rooms each and serving a total of 420 students a day in grades K-8. We painted the interior walls and distributed solar powered lanterns with cell phone chargers to 200 households so that now more than 1,100 adults and children are benefitting from clean, healthy lighting. During the year we completed 56 new homes with durable, long-lasting iron roofing where previously these families (192 total adults and children) lived in leaky, grass-roofed homes. Of these families, 60% are female-headed households. We formed two new Farmers' Associations, each comprised of 50 model farmers (for a total of 20 women and 80 men) and provided each member with tools and materials to improve their farm production. For villagers who cannot access traditional lines of credit, we provided 40 low-interest loans to 30 women and 10 men. Lastly, we provided 100 University Transition Awards to 35 girls and 65 boys from seven local high schools.
