FOR OTHERS, WE'RE A CONVENIENT PLACE TO DONATE USED CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS WITH MORE THAN 14.8 MILLION POUNDS OF GOODS KEPT OUT OF THE LANDFILLS AND RECYCLED IN 2023. MISSION SERVICESIN 2023 GOODWILL INDUSTRIES OF NORTHERN ILLINOIS SERVED 27,963 PEOPLE IN MANY DIFFERENT WAYS, BUT WITH THE SAME END GOAL - HELPING PEOPLE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES TO ENHANCE THEIR LIVES. OUR "GOODGRADS" ADULT BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM SERVED 752 PEOPLE PROVIDING BOTH EDUCATION AND CASE MANAGEMENT AND 2,451 SCHOLARSHIPS TO HELP OFFSET COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (GED) TEST. GOODWILL'S "LET'S GO TO WORK" PROGRAM GAVE 51 ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES THE OPPORTUNITY TO 'EARN WHILE THEY LEARN' IN 9 GOODWILL LOCATIONS WITH THE GOAL OF TRANSITIONING MANY TO THE LOCAL WORK FORCE. GOODWILL'S EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS PLACED 1,620 PEOPLE IN GOOD JOBS IN THE LOCAL AREA.
