IN 2024, OPEN YOUR HEART PROVIDED VITAL SUPPORT TO 73 ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO ADDRESSING FOOD AND HOUSING INSECURITY ACROSS MINNESOTA, WITH 36% SERVING GREATER MINNESOTA. THROUGH OUR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM, WE AWARDED 10 SCHOLARSHIPS TO MINNEAPOLIS COLLEGE STUDENTS WHO WERE CURRENTLY HOMELESS OR HAD EXPERIENCED HOMELESSNESS WITHIN THE PAST TWO YEARS, ENSURING ACCESS TO BOTH EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND ESSENTIAL LIVING EXPENSES.OUR SUMMER CHALLENGE MADE A SUBSTANTIAL DIFFERENCE FOR MINNESOTA FAMILIES FACING FOOD INSECURITY DURING THE CHALLENGING SUMMER MONTHS, ENABLING 153 FOOD SHELVES--61% LOCATED IN GREATER MINNESOTA--TO RESTOCK AND DISTRIBUTE FRESH, NUTRITIOUS FOODS WHEN TRADITIONAL DONATIONS TEND TO DECLINE. ADDITIONALLY, WE LAUNCHED A TARGETED FUNDING INITIATIVE THROUGH A SPECIAL REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS (RFP), AWARDING GRANTS TO 11 EMERGENCY SHELTERS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING IMMEDIATE, EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR UNSHELTERED MINNESOTANS.BEYOND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, OPEN YOUR HEART ACTS AS A CONNECTOR AND ADVOCATE FOR ORGANIZATIONS SERVING INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING FOOD AND HOUSING INSECURITY. WE PROVIDE GRANTEES WITH ACCESS TO ADDITIONAL FUNDING, NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES, AND ESSENTIAL COMMUNITY RESOURCES. BY GATHERING VOLUNTEER AND IN-KIND DONATION NEEDS FROM OUR PARTNERS AND SHARING THEM WIDELY, WE AMPLIFY THEIR IMPACT. EACH WEEK, WE SHOWCASE THE POWERFUL WORK OF OUR GRANT PARTNERS ACROSS MULTIPLE COMMUNICATION CHANNELS, ENSURING THEIR EFFORTS RECEIVE THE VISIBILITY AND RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE.
