JCI standards and evaluation methods are designed to provide quantifiable benchmarks for patient care quality and improvement, to stimulate and support sustained performance improvement, and to provide a framework for risk reduction for international healthcare organizations. JCI offers accreditation programs for hospitals, academic medical centers, hospital and health care systems, clinical laboratories, ambulatory care, long term care, home care, primary care, and medical transport organizations.
