DURING THE TAX YEAR, THE ST. JAMES COMMUNITY FOUNDATION CONTINUED ITS INAUGURAL PROJECT TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS AMONG YOUTH AGING OUT OF THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM. THIS UNDERSERVED POPULATION FACES SIGNIFICANT CHALLENGES IN SECURING STABLE HOUSING, PARTICULARLY WITHIN THEIR HOME COUNTY. TO HELP ALLEVIATE THIS ISSUE, THE FOUNDATION HAS EMBARKED ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF A SMALL RESIDENTIAL VILLAGE DESIGNED TO PROVIDE TRANSITIONAL HOUSING AND SUPPORT SERVICES. EFFORTS DURING THE YEAR INCLUDED COMMUNITY OUTREACH, SITE PLANNING, AND COLLABORATION WITH LOCAL PARTNERS TO ADVANCE THE PROJECT AND ENSURE THAT THESE YOUNG ADULTS CAN REMAIN IN A FAMILIAR ENVIRONMENT WHILE BUILDING INDEPENDENT LIVES.
