HILLSDALE HOSPITAL IS A SHORT-TERM, ACUTE CARE HOSPITAL FACILITY INCLUDING A SKILLED NURSING UNIT, A PSYCHIATRIC UNIT, AND A HOME HEALTH CARE DEPARTMENT, WHICH PROVIDES INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT SERVICES TO THE HILLSDALE COUNTY, MICHIGAN AREA. THE HOSPITAL ALSO SUPPORTS UNPROFITABLE/SUBSIDIZED HEALTH SERVICES, INCLUDING BEHAVIORAL HEALTH, OBSTETRICS, AND EMERGENCY SERVICES. HILLSDALE HOSPITAL SAW 2,157 INPATIENT ADMISSIONS IN FY 2023, 150,178 OUTPATIENT VISITS, AND 18,930 EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT VISITS. DURING FY 2023 APPROXIMATELY 44.4% OF SERVICES RENDERED WERE TO ELDERLY PATIENTS UNDER THE MEDICARE PROGRAM, APPROXIMATELY 23.1% OF SERVICES PROVIDED WERE TO PATIENTS DEEMED INDIGENT UNDER STATE GUIDELINES AND APPROXIMATELY 2.2% OF SERVICES PROVIDED WERE TO INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ANY HEALTHCARE COVERAGE. THE HOSPITAL STRIVES TO MINIMIZE THE FINANCIAL BARRIERS TO HEALTHCARE THAT EXIST FOR CERTAIN MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY, AND IN FY 2023 PROVIDED APPROXIMATELY $850,000 IN CHARITY CARE AND RECORDED A PROVISION FOR BAD DEBT OF $4.5 MILLION. HILLSDALE HOSPITAL GIVES BACK TO THE COMMUNITY IN MANY WAYS, INCLUDING SUPPORTING THE FREE HEALTH CLINIC AND PROVIDING HIGHER EDUCATION LOANS FOR ALLIED HEALTH PROFESSIONS.
