AS ONE OF THE BASIC NEEDS, HOUSING IS IMPORTANT TO THE POOR. THE ORGANIZATION HELPS WITH HOUSING IN MANY WAYS. THE MOST FREQUENT REQUESTS ARE FOR RENT ASSISTANCE IN AN EFFORT TO STAVE OFF AN EVICTION. DURING THE YEAR THE ORGANIZATION HELPED 186 NEIGHBORS IN NEED BY PAYING LANDLORDS A TOTAL OF 73,533 IN RENT PAYMENTS. IT ALSO HELPED CLIENTS WHO HAD NO PERMANENT HOUSING BY PROVIDING TEMPORARY HOUSING FOR 24 CLIENTS BY PAYING 6,320 TO MOTEL OPERATORS ALLOWING THESE CLIENTS MORE TIME TO FIND MORE STABLE HOUSING. TWENTY CLIENTS WERE ASSISTED WITH HOUSING RELATED MATTERS TOTALING 6,981 FOR ASSISTANCE WITH MOVING EXPENSES, SECURITY DEPOSITS, MORTGAGE PAYMENTS AND OTHER ITEMS.
