Mission

The Friends of Prairie Moon is the caretaker, host, and maintenance committee for The Herman Rusch Sculpture Garden and Museum, the Mehringer Exhibit, and the Fred Schlosstein Exhibit. It is a roadside attraction for tourism and education with three different types of rock sculpture created by four different people. It is considered "naive" / "outsider" art as the people who created the sculptures were not trained artists. Sometimes it is considered depression art because it was created with left over broken dishes, glass bottles, rocks, cement, and left-over paint. We host car clubs, school groups, and bus tours. This past year we had cement walkways and a parking lot installed. We are supported by donations from visitors and the Ruth Arts Foundation. The property was given to the Township Milton, the local governing body of the township.
