THIS PUBLICATION IS PRODUCED FOUR TIMES PER YEAR AND IS DISTRIBUTED TO THE MORE THAN 10,000 MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATION.

Program Service Accomplishments

Program 1

DURING 2024, WE HELD OUR 41ST ANNUAL LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE IN DULUTH, MN AT THE DULUTH ENTERTAINMENT CONVENTION CENTER (DECC) IN FEBRUARY. THE CONFERENCE DREW ABOUT 150 RANK AND FILE POLICE OFFICERS FROM ACROSS THE STATE TO HEAR FROM STAKEHOLDERS AND FEDERAL AND STATE ELECTED OFFICIALS ON ISSUES THAT IMPACT LAW ENFORCEMENT RESOURCES AND POLICY. OUR MPPOA ANNUAL CONVENTION WAS HELD IN JUNE AT ARROWWOOD RESORT IN ALEXANDRIA, MN. NEW BOARD MEMBERS WERE ELECTED.WE MONITORED LEGISLATION AT THE STATE AND NATIONAL LEVEL THAT AFFECTS POLICE OFFICERS AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE INFORMED OUR MEMBERS ON IMPORTANT RELEVANT ISSUES AND ENCOURAGED THEM TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES. WE PUBLISHED FOUR ISSUES OF THE MINNESOTA POLICE JOURNAL THAT INFORMED OUR MEMBERS ON CURRENT PROFESSIONAL TOPICS AND ISSUES. WE CONTINUED TO SPONSOR QUARTERLY PRESIDENT'S MEETINGS TO COMMUNICATE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH MEMBERS UNIONS. WE COORDINATED PUBLIC RELATIONS AND LEGISLATIVE LOBBYING EFFORTS IN RESPONSE TO THE CURRENT CLIMATE FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT IN MINNESOTA.
