NORTHSIDE RESIDENTS REDEVELOPMENT COUNCIL INC

In 2025, NRRC continued to advance our mission through meaningful community engagement and innovative programs. Our annual events, the Senior Luncheons, Spring Daze, the Summer Kick-Off Party, the National Night Out Celebration and our Annual Meeting were well attended attracting new residents who, we are proud to say, were invited by regular attendees. Our newest event, Fall Fest, held in October brought new individuals to the Trailhead Adventure Center, extending opportunities for Northsiders to enjoy Theodore Wirth Park and nature. In June, we introduced a new Youth Green Team model with 2 cohorts, the Seedlings and the OG's (Original Gardners). The Seedlings were middle schoolers who worked onsite at our Demonstration Site for Healthy Urban Living tending our vegetable gardens and chickens while receiving environmental education and beautifying the neighborhood. The OG's, the returning Green Team members, put their gardening skills to work by starting vegetable gardens in raised beds at their homes. Our partnership with the Community Safety Specialists assisted the monitoring of safety throughout Willard Hay and Near North strengthening the efficacy of block club captains. Our Healthy Heart contract with Hennepin County created networks of Black and Indigenous women ages 40+ who worked together to improve their heart health. Our paper newsletter, Northside Pride, was read and requested by Northsiders for its information and resources. Through our partnership with NRRC Financial, we maintained our support for first time homebuyers through counseling and expanded loan products. In October, we completed the installation of permeable pavers improving the storm water management at our Demonstration Site for Healthy Urban Living. The Residential Commercial Task Force reviewed over 20 residential and commercial proposals for Willard Hay and Near North with particular attention to the proposed Blue Line Extension and how it will affect Northsiders. We are grateful to all of the community partners who worked with us in 2025 to continually improve the quality of life for Willard Hay and Near North residents!
