Hawthorne Neighborhood Council

Our meetings continue to be via Zoom with record attendance. We continue to hold pop-up events. We supported National Night in collaboration collaboration with Freedom Works and others this year. We continue to be role models for other Neighborhoods and organizations. HNC collaborated with Hue-Man partners, the City of Minneapolis, Hennepin County, KMOJ, MN Spokesman Recorder, Asian Media Access, UCare, League of Women Voters Strong Mind Strong Body Foundation and Carmen Robles & Associates LLC. Our work continues to speak for itself. We engaged in 5 additional projects this year with the City of Minneapolis and Hennepin County to help educate our community on various topics. Our continued record audience for the Hawthorne Huddle and Northside Urban Coalition conversations have grown to other Cities. The Hawthorne Huddle is an outlet for community residents to come together and voice their concerns and opinions. We continue to honor the community every other month. HNC work through the Coalition with Hue-MAN has taken on a new meaning regarding mental health. Through the Hue-MAN project we continue to educate and have workshops around substance abuse prevention. Narcan workshops and training continue to be conducted throughout the City. Smart Approaches to Marijuana Minnesota (SAMMn) is also a collaborating partner around Opioids prevention. Marijuana Minnesota (SAMMn) is also a collaborating partner around Opioids prevention. We continue to work with Metro State and the University of Minnesota. Also, our continued work with the Somali, Hmong, Spanish and Asian Communities on their crisis of mental health and Opioids.
