The Dwelling Place

Transitional Housing - The Organization operates ten single-family homes that provide transitional housing for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. Residents typically remain in the program for two years while they recover from trauma and develop the skills necessary to achieve independent housing, sustainable income, and lives free from abuse. The homes are located in residential neighborhoods, and their locations are kept confidential to protect the safety of the women and children served. The properties include 40 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 80 individuals. The homes are furnished, well maintained, and equipped with security systems. In 2025, the Organization housed and served 24 women and 34 children, ranging in age from 8 months to 17 years. A total of 58 women and children received 12,645 nights of safe housing. The Organization also received 660 calls for assistance involving 589 children affected by domestic abuse. Women who completed the program successfully separated from abusive relationships.

Community Education - The Organization provides trauma-informed care focused on two primary principles: safety and empowerment. With more than 27 years of experience serving victims of domestic abuse, the Organization integrates best practices in trauma-informed care within a Christ-centered environment. The Organization provides a comprehensive program of support services for residents, including intensive case management, support groups, education on domestic abuse, financial literacy and budgeting classes, parenting education, music, art and talk therapy, and instruction on meal planning and nutrition on a limited budget. Bible study and Christian spiritual support are also available. The Organization collaborates with community partners to provide additional resources, including employment counseling, therapy services, and assistance with securing affordable housing.
