IACCT'S PRIMARY MISSION IS TO PROMOTE EDUCATIONAL INTERESTS OF THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF IOWA BY DEVELOPING, STRENGTHENING, AND COLLABORATING ON THE WORK OF IOWA'S 15 COMMUNITY COLLEGES' BOARDS OF DIRECTORS. TO ACCOMPLISH THIS, IACCT: -FACILITATES THE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION AMONG THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES; -PROVIDES INFORMATION CONCERNING THE EDUCATIONAL AND ECONOMIC CONTRIBUTIONS AND NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES; -FACILITATES THE ADOPTION OF BEST PRACTICES BY THE COLLEGE DIRECTORS; -COORDINATES AND FACILITATES COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE IACCT BOARD, LOCAL BOARDS OF TRUSTEES, PRESIDENTS, AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE WORK GROUPS; -EDUCATES PEOPLE AT ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, PRIVATE BUSINESS, NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ABOUT THE EDUCATION/TRAINING PROGRAMS OF THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND THEIR POSITIVE ECONOMIC IMPACT ON IOWA, ON LOCAL ECONOMIES AND THEIR STUDENTS' LIVES; AND -HOSTS MEETINGS AND GATHERINGS FOR NOT ONLY THE BOARD'S AND PRESIDENTS' COMMITTEES, AND MANY STATEWIDE COMMUNITY COLLEGE COMMITTEES WHO NEED A CENTRAL MEETING LOCATION, BUT ALSO FOR NONPROFITS AND GOVERNMENT GROUPS TO PROMOTE THE EDUCATIONAL GOALS IN IOWA, AND TO BE A RESOURCE FOR THE EDUCATIONAL COMMUNITY. THE WORK OF THE ASSOCIATION IS REFLECTED IN THE DUTIES OF ITS BOARD WHICH INCLUDE: -ACTING AS TRUSTEES OF PUBLIC EDUCATION AND USING THEIR BEST EFFORTS TO PROTECT AND ENHANCE PUBLIC EDUCATION FOR THE GOOD OF THE CITIZENS OF IOWA; -USING THE RESOURCES OF THE COMMUNITY COLLEGES TO MEET THE EDUCATIONAL AND TRAINING NEEDS OF ALL STUDENTS, AND WORKFORCE TRAINING NEEDS OF BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY; -SUPPORTING COOPERATIVE PROGRAMS WITH SECONDARY SCHOOLS, OTHER INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER LEARNING, AND WITH BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY; -PROMOTING AND WORKING FOR THE FINANCIAL WELL-BEING OF IOWA'S COMMUNITY COLLEGES; AND -WORKING WITH THE IOWA ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY COLLEGE PRESIDENTS.
