BUDDY POPPIES: VFW BUDDY POPPIES ARE ASSEMBLED BY DISABLED AND NEEDY VETERANS IN VA HOSPITALS. THE VFW BUDDY POPPY PROGRAM PROVIDES COMPENSATION TO THE VETERANS WHO ASSEMBLE THE POPPIES, PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN MAINTAINING STATE AND NATIONAL VETERANS' REHABILITATION AND SERVICE PROGRAMS AND PARTIALLY SUPPORTS THE VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN. THIS IS AN ANNUAL FUND RAISING ACTIVITY. PARADES: PARTICIPATE IN SOUTHEAST IOWA PARADES TO PROMOTE AFFAIRS FOR VETERANS. VETERAN'S DAY: THE POST HOLDS A COLOR GUARD AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS IN THE TOWN, HOLDS A POW/MIA REDEDICATION AT THE CLUB AND PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR THE TOWNS VETERAN'S DAY HONORARIUM. WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT: THE WOUNDED WARRIOR PROJECT RAISES AWARENESS AND ENLIST THE PUBLIC'S AID FOR THE NEEDS OF INJURED SERVICE MEMBERS. HELPS INJURED SERVICE MEMBERS AID AND ASSIST EACH OTHER. PROVIDES UNIQUE, DIRECT PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TO MEET THE NEEDS OF INJURED SERVICE MEMBERS. OUR POST DONATES MONTHLY. CANTEEN: THE POST SPONSORS A CANTEEN ESTABLISHMENT WHERE MEMBERS NETWORK. HONOR GUARD: PROVIDE FULL MILITARY RIGHTS FUNERAL FOR ANY VETERAN FUNERALS WITHIN DES MOINES COUNTY.
