Collaborative aerial imagery / LiDAR purchase - - Acting as an aggregator, devise, organize, and implement a joint purchase by up to 50 participants (including local, regional, state and national governmental agencies plus private companies, non-profit entities, and individuals) of 3" resolution aerial imagery of Ventura and/or Santa Barbara Counties at an estimated 30+% savings compared to the cost of independent purchases by the participating entities. Planning and organization of a 2023 Ventura County project began in 2022, data collection was completed in mid 2023 and data delivery was completed in 2024. Projects of this type are very complex in nature requiring a multi-year time frame from planning through execution to completion. Planning for a 2024 aerial imagery and LiDAR project began in 2024. Imagery acquisition is expected to be completed in in summer 2023 with delivery of data to participants expected in early 2024.

General - - Devise, organize, promote, conduct, and participate in GIS activities designed to make the public and GIS professionals aware of the geospatial data and opportunities available for the Channel Islands region. Because of COVID-19 the annual region-wide meeting in late May or early June at the University of California, Santa Barbara (spatial@UCSB.EDU) was not held. The annual region-wide GIS Day celebration was held in November at Ventura College for the second time in three years. The aperiodic CIRGIS general membership meetings at Ventura college were not held. CIRGIS Board meetings were virtual and by conference calls. It is hoped the regular routine schedule will resume in 2024.
