Fargo-Moorhead Curling Club

The organization's purpose is to promote the sport of curling, to provide a facility to participate in the sport, to increase the participants' skills and to conduct bonspiels and other competitions. The organization remained steady with about 700 members during the current fiscal year. There were a total of 12 full year leagues for the current year, including 2 men's leagues, 2 youth leagues, 4 open leagues, 2 novice leagues, and also 1 women's league and 1 mixed doubles league. There was also Kid's Curl - a part year league for 5-9 year olds so they could try out curling at a younger age. (Continued on Schedule O)The organization hosted various sessions for youth, "Learn to Curl" sessions, as well as curling lessons and open curling. Throughout the year, groups from various organizations came in to learn about curling, including students from area schools. There were three Mini-Leagues in place. These leagues are six weeks each in length to allow new curlers to get a feel for a league and to see if they enjoy the sport of Curling. During the fiscal year, several bonspiels (tournaments) were held. - The "Woodchipper" Bonspiel was held in October 2023- A Bantam (youth) Bonspiel was held in November 2023- The regular Open Bonspiel was held in December 2023- The "Green" Bonspiel was held in January 2024- The "Five Clubs" Bonspiel was held in March 2024 The five curling clubs involved in this are Fargo-Moorhead, Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Yankton and Brookings, South Dakota curling clubs. These four South Dakota clubs do not have "dedicated" ice, so they like to come and get bonspiel experience on dedicated ice. This event has grown quite nicely over the past few years. The U21 Qualifier Event was held in January 2024, and the Club Nationals tournament was held in April 2024. These events brought in many teams/competitors and spectators from all over the country. These events rotate between curling clubs from all over the country each year.
