C.A.S.A. of Ventura County recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who become sworn officers of the court and work as court appointed special advocates in accordance with rules and regulations established by the state of California judicial council, state of California welfare and institutions code, California CASA, national CASA, and state of California and Ventura County rules of court. During 2023-24, CASA had 223 active court appointed special advocates. 189 volunteers assigned served 254 children. Of these, 24 were infants and toddlers (ages 0-5), 173 were non-minor dependents (ages 6-17), and 57 were age 18 and over. CASA offered four 40-hour trainings and assigned 40 new trainees to cases. Exceeding the state of California judicial council's minimum requirement for 28 in-service trainings per year, CASA offered 60 classes.
