NUTRITION INCENTIVE - MIFMA PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FOR GRANTEES OF THE GUS SCHUMACHER NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAM IMPLEMENTING NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAMS IN FARM DIRECT SETTINGS AND ALL PRODUCE PRESCRIPTION PROJECTS AS A MEMBER OF THE NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAM NATIONAL TRAINING, TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, EVALUATION AND INFORMATION CENTER REFERRED TO AS THE NUTRITION INCENTIVE HUB. IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING ONE-ON-ONE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, MIFMA ALSO CONVENES COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE, CREATES AND SOURCES RESOURCES FROM THE FIELD, AND SUPPORTS FACILITATING BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL MEETINGS OF GRANTEES AND EXPERTS FROM THE FIELD.

FOOD ACCESS - MIFMA WORKS TO ENSURE THAT ALL CONSUMERS HAVE ACCESS TO THE FOOD AND FARM PRODUCTS THAT ARE SOLD AT COMMUNITY DRIVEN MARKETPLACES IN MICHIGAN. TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL, WE SUPPORT FARMERS AND MARKETS IN ACCEPTING BENEFITS FROM THE SNAP, WIC, AND FARMERS MARKET NUTRITION FEDERAL FOOD ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS AND SUPPORT STATEWIDE IMPLEMENTATION OF A NUTRITION INCENTIVE PROGRAM CALLED DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS. IN 2024, MORE THAN 160 FARMERS MARKETS ACCEPTED SNAP AND MORE THAN 200 LOCATIONS IN MICHIGAN PARTICIPATED IN DOUBLE UP FOOD BUCKS.
