The organization reached 375 Indigenous Maya-Achi farming families (approximately 1,875 men, women, and children) with critical sustainable agriculture related activities. This included building 22 greenhouses, distributing 30,000 pounds of organic fertilizer, vaccinating 900 cows and horses against disease, vaccinating 10,000 chicken and other poultry against disease, delivering 3,000 pounds of corn and bean seeds to recuperate the milpa system, planting 7,500 forest trees, planting 1,875 fruit trees, delivering vegetable seeds to each of 375 families to start their own vegetable gardens, and carrying out continuous technical assistance visits to each of 375 families throughout the year, typically once every two months. The organization also carried out 6 workshops for up to 250 farmer beneficiaries on soil and water conservation. During this year, we also started working with primary schools. We reached 250 students and 17 teachers at 5 primary schools in the area. This work included working with teachers and students on curriculum aimed at promoting agroecology at a young age, and building school gardens at each school.
